It's the last city in Libya from the eastern side, it's importance cause is that the city's sea port protected natural protection, also it's considerable as the last sea port station on the header coast between Darna-Darnas and the Egyptian borders, of 340 Km's distance. And its position comes in the middle of this area also it's the beginning to the desert road which extends between the coastal road and Jaghboob oasis, Tobrouq was a base for purveyance and an active assistant in north Africa during the world war II (1939-1945) which it was under an armed Italian forces protection, but the British and Australian forces occupied the base in January 1941, and after that the Germans had the British forces to retreat to the Egyptian borders, but the powerful of the British - Australian artillery hold the breath even with its being alienated in Tobruq.

During the blockade from 9 april to 7 December, the German and Italian forces start a repeated bitter attacks on the circumference of the half squared base that its length goes up to 48 km's but these attacks has not achieved any big success, that was referenced as the first big defeat for the German forces.

Things were all hard to the commercial army men in that desert areas, with a permanent and hot un bearded temperature. Also add to it the difficulty of finding a water source, but the British and Australian forces stayed providing their protectorate with purveyances, and in august they brought Polish forces which fight till the last breath.

Today Tobruq is so important to the close countries, which its famous with it's courage, gallantry, Self confidence against all the blocks, difficulties and the enemies.
