This area is characterized by rock arts, paintings and engravings.

Up to now around 4080 panels discovered there, depicting different kinds of animals such as giraffe, ostrich, deer, bull, cow, goat, camel …

Alongside stone tools of spears and arrows which represent hunting period and animal domestication period as well.

On the other hand the human being shapes, there, varied from hunters to herders, according to this, their clothes, rituals and social life also varied .

And by more scientific researches and studies we will know a lot about the past of this area.


Jebel Ouenat is a chain of mountains located at the south - eastern part of Libya, covers more than 800 square km and the highest portion of it is approximately 1934m ( above the sea level ) .

This chain also extends to the egyptian and soudanese territories, and famous for its natural water springs as well as some sort of vegetations known in the area from the remote past.

Jebel ouenat was discovered in 1923 by one of the Arab travelers, and since then, it has become a destination for a lot of specialists till the end of 1960 s.
